The city of Puerto Plata is an interesting place. Filled with tourism and old white guys for nearly three decades, many Puerto Plata girls are a bit weary of foreigners and their intentions. Sex tourism is rampant on the north coast of the Dominican Republic and that can taint the dating market.

Still, many sexy Puerto Plata girls are attracted to younger foreign men willing to spend more than a few days in the city. Puerto Plata City rarely gets many tourists not staying in a resort. So you can distinguish yourself from the resort-types by renting a nice hotel in the center or an apartment on Airbnb.

Breaking Down Puerto Plata City

• Populations: While I found numerous estimates, most believe the city holds between 150,000 to 280,000 people. I’d estimate the city is around 200,000 in total after spending a few weeks exploring and hitting the beach.
• Costs: Puerto Plata can be as cheap or as expensive as you desire. There are small apartments in the city center for $350-500 USD a month. You can also stay at a resort for $200 a night.
• Safety: Puerto Plata City isn’t the safest place in the Dominican Republic. However, the locals don’t mess with tourists too much, as tourism is the lifeblood of the city. Don’t flash your new watch or iPhone, and you’ll be fine.
• Climate: Hot. Just hot. This is a beach city, so the temperatures are hot year around. You’ll need AC 100%. Also, November and December can be rainy.
• Tourism: Tons of tourism. You could stay here for a month and not run out of things to do. There’s dozens of stunning beaches, places to snorkel, islands, 27 Waterfalls, Fortaleza de San Felipe, an aquarium, a cable car to a mountain, a monkey jungle, and an automatic weapons shooting range. You won’t get bored!

What Do Puerto Plata Girls Look Like?

Now, this is where things get iffy. I couldn’t put a finger on exactly how Puerto Plata women looked or should looked. In fact, I’d say the girls here come from all over the country to work in tourism. As such, some girls have the lighter skinned Santiago girls look, while others have a darker skin color that’s more common in the southern areas of the DR.

From a physical standpoint, Puerto Plata is a beach city. So you can expect the girls here to look absolutely amazing naked. A couple of the girls I met in Puerto Plata stripped down and my jaw absolutely dropped to the floor. The combination of Dominican genes and going to the beach every week had them looking amazing.

Quality-wise, I didn’t see nearly as many true stunners here as I did in Santo Domingo or Santiago. This was especially evident at night. As prostitution is all too common here, many of the really attractive women don’t go out as much at night. This was weird to me, especially after living in Santo Domingo.

Overall, you can find women with great bodies here, but don’t expect true 10s like you’ll find all over Santo Domingo and Santiago.

Where to Stay in Puerto Plata City, Dominican Republic?

As Puerto Plata is a city built on tourism, you’ll have plenty of accommodation options. The city is said to have over 100,000 hotel beds. This means you’ll never run out of places to stay.

I found the four best areas to be:

• City Center: This neighborhood is near Fortaleza San Felipe. Here you’ll find the most action – day and night. If meeting normal Dominican girls is your main priority in Puerto Plata, this is where you want to be. The girls will be able to get here easily. There are a number of hotels available and some apartments on Airbnb.
• Acapulco Beach & Long Beach: If you want great logistics for dating and some beach life, staying around Acapulco Beach or Long Beach could be ideal. This is a middle ground. You’ll be close to both the city center and to the pristine beaches nearby. I stayed here and enjoyed it.
• Playa Dorada: This is the main resort area in the city. Here you’ll find dozens of resorts and apartments. Most travelers stay here. While some girls will be super excited to visit you here, others will assume you’re only in Puerto Plata for a week and not want anything to do with you. If dating is more important than the beach, don’t stay here.
• Costambar: This is safe, residential community on a fairly nice beach. Here you’ll find hundreds of foreigners living and enjoying life. It’s something like an active retirement community. If you have a car or motorcycle, living here wouldn’t be too bad. Without transport, the logistics here don’t work.

Basically, stay near the city center if you want to meet Dominican girls in Puerto Plata City. Staying at the resort will attract chapiadoras, but normal Puerto Plata girls can be turned off by tourists at resorts.

Sex in Puerto Plata: Is It Difficult?

Sex in Puerto Plata is not difficult. While it’s harder to get laid here than in Santo Domingo, you’ll still have a great shot to bed some Dominicanas if you stay for more than one week. I had a couple of Dominican women who wouldn’t see me the first week I arrived. They wanted to see if I was lying about being in the city for more than one week.

Once they saw I was being honest, it was easy to get them to meet up for dates and come back to my place. Puerto Plata girls are definitely attracted to foreigners, but they’re more weary of them than girls in Santo Domingo or Santiago. That’s the only thing that makes sex in Puerto Plata tough.

The good news? If a girl likes you, she’ll almost always put out on the first or second date. Why? Because she knows you could easily meet as many prostitutes as you like in the city. Sex in Puerto Plata isn’t tough to find. She’ll want to keep you occupied and satisfied if she likes you.

How to Get Laid in Puerto Plata City

If you want to get laid in Puerto Plata City without paying for it, all you have to do is follow the methods below. I’ve spent time in the city and chopped it up with the one other expat I met that was younger, living in Puerto Plata City, and dating local girls without paying for it. This is what works:

Online Dating

While online dating you might be able to get away from using online dating in big cities throughout the Dominican Republic, I’d venture to say you’ll be lonely with out online dating in Puerto Plata City. As the nightlife here is awful, meeting Dominican girls online is key. Here are the best sites to use:

• Dominican Cupid

You will get laid in Puerto Plata City if you sign up for Dominican Cupid and spit some game on the site. Each week there are nearly 300 active women between the ages of 18-36 on the dating site. That’s a lot of prospects, especially in a beach city. And it gets better…

The women on this site are specifically looking to meet travelers. If you show them you’re staying more than a week, you’ll have a number of girls willing to meet you when you arrive.

• Latin American Cupid

If you’re staying under a month in Puerto Plata, Dominican Cupid should be all you need. If you plan to stay in the city for awhile, then using Latin American Cupid could be a great idea, too. Why? Because you’ll find different women on LAC than you will on Dominican Cupid.

While there’s a little overlap, I’d estimate you’ll have another 180-200 fresh women (ages 18-36)  to chat with every week in Puerto Plata City. Using this site will tip the odds in your favor and almost guarantee you get laid here.

• Tinder

I wasn’t impressed with Tinder in Puerto Plata City. A few middle-class women use the app, but I found less than 50 girls to swipe here. If you use Tinder, feel free to swipe Puerto Plata girls. Just don’t expect a ton of options. However, the few girls that I did match with were pretty cute and I managed to get one date from the app.

Day Game

There are no true “malls” in Puerto Plata. The biggest university in the city is on the outskirts of town and not that walkable. As such, traditional day game methods in the DR are out of the picture. If you want to meet women during the day, you have three options:

• Beaches

If you see a cute girl or three alone at the beach (without family or men), go talk with them. My best success with women in Puerto Plata came from an innocent conversation at the beach. The best beaches to check out are Acapulco, Long Beach, and Playa Dorada. Playa Dorada will be decidedly more tourists. Do note that you might get one or two chances to talk to a cute girl each hour. Don’t pass them up.

• City Center

The best way to meet Puerto Plata girls during the day is in the city center. If you spend 4:30-6:30 PM walking around the city center during the week, you should see some girls. Girls are getting out of school or getting off of work at this time. So it’s prime time for meeting normal girls.

• The Gym

This is a ballsy way, but it actually works in Puerto Plata City. The Gold’s Gym in Puerto Plata is home to some of the best women throughout the north coast of the DR. If you have some balls, go talk to a sexy girl working out here. Not a high percentage play whatsoever.

Nightlife

I hated the nightlife here the two times I tested it out. I wouldn’t recommend spending a lot of time here if you’re looking to party and enjoy your time out at night. The clubs are almost always filled with hookers. Upper class girls in Puerto Plata often venture to Santiago de los Caballeros to party.

If you really want to party, I have three suggestions. First, go to Cabarete on a Saturday night. It’s a quick bus or moto-taxi ride away. The party here is tourist-oriented and you’ll find less hookers. While the best chance of getting laid will come from tourist girls, that’s better than hookers all over the place.

Next, go to Santiago de los Caballeros. It’s less than $5 for the bus during the day. Head there on a Saturday, book a cheap hotel, and party your balls off. Spend the night and head back to the beach on Sunday.

Lastly, just bring a date to a bar or club for a little dancing. This way the hookers will stay away from you. If you’re new to town, ask your girl where she likes to go with her best friends to dance.

If you insist on going out to meet chicks, then check out:

• Kviar Show Disco: This spot is famous with locals and tourists alike. Finding a non-working girl here can be tough, but it is possible. I’d say 50-70% of girls here are working. Certain nights there are less tourist, which equals less pros. The music and atmosphere are pretty solid, though.

Speaking Spanish in Puerto Plata?

I hate to say it, but you can get by without Spanish in Puerto Plata City. This is especially true if you’re near the resorts. However, zero Spanish will hurt you with the women. In fact, I’d imagine it nearly impossible to get laid in Puerto Plata City without some Spanish.

Your value as a traveler skyrockets to girls here – if you can speak some Spanish. Trust me. Take some time and study a bit before you arrive. I recommend starting here.

Overall, Puerto Plata is a solid place to combine Dominican girls and the beach. There’s a lot of working girls here, but it’s not too bad like Sosua. If you’re willing to use online dating and speak some Spanish, I have no doubt you’ll get laid. The dating scene isn’t as good here as it is in Santo Domingo, but the women have amazing bodies. Surprisingly, this is one of the cities I’d come back to.
